Rob van Erkelens wint Pé Hawinkels pioniersprijs

Author: De schrijver/vertaler Rob van Erkelens heeft de Pé Hawinkels pionierprijs gewonnen. Van Erkelens schreef o.a. het boek ‘Het uur van lood’ en vertaalde poezie van Trakl en een boek van Nick Cave.
Ik heb Rob ooit ontmoet toen ik in 1993 (?) de Meervaart Literatuurprijs voor jongeren won. Hij zat toen namelijk in de jury. Ik was een jaar of 22 en was op komen draven met mijn ouders en mijn goede vriend en aartsmuze Olga. Van Erkelens kwam erg symphatiek over en liet weten het gedicht ‘Mongools zilver’ waarmee ik die prijs toen won erg goed te hebben gevonden. Een ander jurylid, waarvan ik de naam niet meer helemaal voor de geest kan halen (Jan Eickelkamp? Eickelboom? Iets dergelijks? of een andere Jan?) liet me na afloop weten dat hij niet geloofde dat ik dit gedicht daadwerkelijk bij die tekening van (Sylvia Webe? Sylvia Weve?) had geschreven. Dat vond ik toen nogal cru want dat was wel degelijk het geval, ik was er zelfs midden in de nacht voor opgestaan omdat er een idee in mijn hoofd schoot. Dit was het gedicht waar het toen om ging:
Mongools zilver
Vallende ster in een stoel.
Ik, ik ben de maan. Scherf
van geluk. Mijn glimlach
leunt vermoeid tegen
voorbijgangers aan.
Mijn tanden torenen
als haaievinnen boven
mijn lippen uit
Blanke kat die schreeuwt
op het dak van het universum
Het is maar een naam,
mongools zilver,
het is maar schaduw,
schaduw van fluweel.
