Karavanserai gearriveerd

De bundel is eindelijk ook hier gearriveerd. Ik woon op een eiland en dan moet je eraan wennen dat de post er standaard twee weken langer over doet. Soms heb ik medelijden met de postbode. Ik bestel wel eens van die dikke, zware boeken van Amazon en die moet hij dan speciaal voor mij de heuvel op dragen. Ik woon nogal hoog op de heuvel namelijk. Enfin, Karavanserai is echt een prachtboek geworden. Alle lof naar de mensen van Nieuw Amsterdam. Ik heb als een ware narcistische mongool meteen een vak in mijn boekenkast met mijn eigen boek weten vullen.

Wat ik wel inmiddels heb ondervonden is dat het wachten op recensies een erg vervelend gevoel is. Daarom heb ik besloten dat totaal in de kiem te gaan smoren door het te compenseren met creativiteit. Ik had vanavond een interview op Stadsradio Helmond, in het programma cultuurbarbaren. Dat wordt al vele jaren verzorgd door Wim Maasakkers en is simpelweg het beste Nederlandstalige cultuurprogramma dat er op de radio te vinden is. Ik merkte dat het naar binnen werken van een paar glazen wijn voor een uitzending een smerend effect heeft op de vloeibaarheid van je spraakkunsten. Ik heb dat toendertijd bij die Dunya prijs ook geprobeerd, in de trein een hele fles wijn naar binnen gewerkt maar helaas bleek bij aankomst dat ik eerst een hele lezing van Komrij moest uitzitten en tegen de tijd dat ik het podium op moest was de wijn alweer uitgewerkt.

Aan de orde kwam onder andere dat ik tegen het voorlezen van poezie ben. Naar mijn mening is voorlezen iets wat je voor kinderen doet. Onder volwassenen voorlezen vind ik volstrekt uit den boze. Daarnaast vind ik poezie iets wat zich tussen de schepper (mij) en de rest van de kosmos afspeelt. Aangezien de lezer onderdeel uitmaakt van de rest van de kosmos vind ik poezie voorlezen een dubbelzinnig iets. Het schrijven was al een wisselwerking – waarom deze wisselwerking nog eens herhalen? Wat voor doel dient dat? Wim Maasakkers had er begrip voor. Een fantastisch programma, dat ‘cultuurbarbaren’.
