’4 Zinnen’ van Samuel Vriezen wordt besproken door Delmotte op poezierapport, dit keer wel met een goed geschreven recensie dus hij kan het toch wel, heeft alleen iemand nodig die hem af en toe een keer tegen de schenen schopt zodat hij wel wakker blijft. Vriezens bundel kreeg eerder een hele matige, flauwe recensie in Awater en ik ben blij dat deze bijzondere bundel nu wat meer aandacht krijgt.
Mijn eigen bundel wordt in de Groene Amsterdammer die op 15 augustus in de winkel ligt besproken door Erik Lindner. Ik heb die recensie al mogen lezen en het is een goede recensie geworden die zowel op de positieve als negatieve aspecten van de bundel ingaat. Later daarover meer.
Ik heb inmiddels trouwens besloten dat ik doorga met het schrijven van poezie. Ik wou dat namelijk af laten hangen van de ontvangst van de bundel; ik wil het soort zelfbedrog mijden welke iemand ertoe drijft zijn hele leven aan iets te wijden waarin hij slechts matig talent heeft, dus ik wou eerst eens zien wat de buitenwereld er eigenlijk van vindt. Het leven is te kort om het aan iets te verspillen wat niet gewaardeerd wordt, vind ik, daarom dacht ik ik laat het allemaal afhangen van wat voor reacties ik krijg. De reacties zijn tot nu toe echter zo positief en uitbundig dat ik me geroepen voel deze rare vloek die de poezie nou eenmaal is dan maar op me te nemen. Ik wil eenieder die tot nu toe de tijd nam mijn gedichten te bespreken daarvoor hartelijk danken.

gefeliciteerd met al die goede recensies.
De ultieme nachtmerrie, vind ik, is in een soort Wil Melker veranderen die eindeloze kant en klaar gedichten fabriceert waar niemand op zit te wachten.
Anderzijds kun je natuurlijk ook zeggen dat ik al behoorlijk lang aan de weg timmer. Het is wel een debuutbundel, maar dan wel een debuut waar ik behoorlijk lang aan heb gewerkt. Als dat dan bijvoorbeeld alleen flauwe opmerkingen, hoon en miskenning zou opleveren zou ik denken: andere focus, ander medium, ander publiek.
Ik had het over 3 recensenten die ik zelf wel goed vind. Als ik vijf recensenten had gekend die ik wel goed vond waren het er vijf geweest. Wat de rest van de critici van mijn bundel vindt zal mij een zorg wezen. Ik had een soort externe factor nodig om te bepalen of ik niet in een soort zelfbedrog verzeild was geraakt. Daartoe heb ik critici uitgezocht wiens oordeel ik als betrouwbaar inschat. Verder waren ook de amateur recensies zeer bemoedigend.
Ik vind 3 goede critici niet getuigen van een kritiek op hoog niveau, nee.
Voor de rest weet iedereen in de verre omtrek nu wel dat jij vindt dat een crtiticus Amerikaanse pozie moet lezen, en dat ie niet deugt, enz. Maar je hebt nog nooit de moeite genomen om 1) uit te leggen waarom dat zo noodzakelijk is, en 2) waar in mijn stukken dat tekort aan kennis zich wreekt.
Mijn taalgebruik: geef maar eens een paar voorbeelden, en dan meteen erbij hoe het minder wollig zou kunnen graag. Als je zo graag wil ‘discussiren’, dan man en paard, bitte, en niet alleen die gratuite opinies waarmee je her en der de troll uithangt.
2. Een poezierecensent die nooit een Amerikaanse dichter heeft gelezen is net zo geloofwaardig als een filmrecensent die nooit Hitchcock heeft gezien, of Scorcese, etc.
Dat je een luiwammes bent is tot daaraantoe, maar probeer s.v.p. niet die lamlendigheid te vertheoretiseren tot een standaard.
Ten slotte: zo lang jij beweert dat ik niet deug, weet ik dat ik het goed doe.
2. Jij bent juist de persoon waarmee niet te discussieren valt, omdat je stellig jezelf bovenaan de ladder plaatst en dat is een plek waar je absoluut niks te zoeken hebt.
