Welcome to the Astrology Section of Loewak, a site dedicated to intelligent media and freedom of information.
This is the home of Lacanian Astrology. Lacanian Astrology is a type of Astrology named after Jacques Lacan, the famous French Philosopher, Psychiatrist and Writer. Lacanian Astrology takes the theories of psychoanalysis and merges these with the archetypical foundation of astrology, creating a potent basis for interpretation that can help many people around the world.

We believe that Astrology is not a hard science. It is useless to pretend it to be a hard science and its much more useful to see it for what it truly is: an excellent archetypical system that describes phenomenon which, combined with intelligent psychoanalysis, can help you manifest your true identity on this planet.

What is psychoanalysis?

Psychoanalysis is a method of investigation of the mind. The idea is that the human mind is not a reliable instrument to measure reality. Therefore one must every now and then ‘clean’ this instrument called the human mind. People who do not learn methods to clean their minds will start to live in something we refer to as a ‘distorted reality’. There are many people who live in such distorted realities and psychoanalysis is a tool to help you learn to know your own mind, know how to control it, know how to clean it and make it pure.

What is Astrology?

Astrology is an ancient system of archetypes based on the behaviour of nature. All symbols in Astrology have a clear meaning which is based on natural conditions. For example, a Capricorn is the symbol for mid winter, when nothing grows anymore and things need to leap forward to spring. The stern materialism of Capricorn and its ambitions thus have a root in nature, they are conditions necissary to survive winter. Thus, the symbol of Capricorn is an entirely logical one for this time period. Likewise the Lion is the animal that resembles the sun mostly, and is the person born in the most sunny period of the year.

We don’t have any problems with saying that certain plants have certain characteristics. It is well known, for example, that winter plants are more tough and more rigid, etc. But when you use the same principle through astrology some cynics have great problems with that idea. We think this is an exaggerated response and it misplaces the entire idea of the science of astrology which is largely a psychoanalytical one.

In more religious terms we side with the Buddhists: the whole meaning of the wheel of Astrology is not to be limited to one sign, which is supposed to describe your entire character. Remember, this is rather the negative starting point for your growth much more than anything else. We see a red rose because the rose actually refuses to absorb red and absorbs all the other colours. What we see of nature is something that we Lacanian Astrologers call the ‘Negative starting point’.
