Aries or Ram (23 March – 23 April)

Aries or Ram represents the first fire of spring, the original spark of life that startles growth and consiousness. Aries is the start of the complete astrological wheel and the start of spring. The Ancients felt that the symbol of a Ram represents this transcending from Winter into Spring well: they felt that Rams had a certain stubborness, innocence, and a fiery quality visible from the fact that they keep crashing into each other, as first life often does, think of the behavior of sperm here or roots.

As the first fire Aries is actually fire in its most pure form. People who are born under the sign of Aries therefore seldomly are complicated people. You can recognise them by a certain simplicity of mind and soul. Aries is a very dominant sign, the main theme of this sign is domination. In Tarot the card assigned to Aries is the Emperor. Aries people want to dominate, but often without having the actual experience necissary to rule wisely. This is one of the prime reasons the sign often is somewhat impopular amongst other signs: whatever the Aries does its prime goal is always domination, but it lacks the sophistication, wisdom and experience to turn that drive into actual rule.

The career of an Aries

This is why an Aries wil seldomly end up on top of the corporate chain.  They are simply far too impulsive, direct, and combative to understand the sophisticated games that are required to reach such positions. They will far more likely become managers or straight workers, but once they do they do a hell of a job: because an Aries is extremely loyal as long as you respect his authority and they are hard, very hard workers. From all signs probably the Aries is the most useful employee, as long as his job doesn’t require diplomacy, which is something Aries is rather bad in, extensive boardmeetings, which an Aries despises, or backstabbing behavior which the Aries has the greatest contempt for. Everything around an Aries is usually centered around the idea of honor. Honor is extremely important to them, and directness. They will be great employees as long as you are frank with them and respect their boundaries.

As an Aries needs action an office job isn’t very likely to make him happy. He prefers the sort of work that requires action, even if that action is rather simple and unimaginative action is always better than non-action in their way of thinking.

The Aries in love

Frankly, the whole idea of love is a little complicated for the Aries. They love things that are direct and simple. They do not care about fragile games, complicated flirting, beating around the bush. The Aries will most likely just come up to you and ask you straight up if you wanna come to his place. Patience is something virtually unknown to them. They will usually try to dominate their partners, or find another fire sign that is stronger than them and take on the more passive role.

60 degree relations:

60 degree relations are the most common for relationships. These are the ‘good friends’ sort of relationships, that is often the best and most logical basis for long term commitment. For an Aries these are:

* Aquarius (22 Januari – 22 Februar)

The fire of Aries and the Air of Aquarius mix well and the Aquarius has the power to makes the Aries flames go higher and higher. However, I do not believe this combination will ever work well. The problem here is that the simple and dominant Aries does not harmonize with the complex, aloof, intellectual sign Aquarius. The Aries does not understand the Aquarius at all. To him that sort of complicated people are people from hell. He wants simplicity and attention, not intellectualism and aloofness. So chances for this combination to work are dim, unless we deal with a very intellectual Aries and a rather actionminded Aquarius.

* Gemini (23 May – 23 June)

This combination is also a fire-air combination, which is basically good. But its much better than the combination with Aquarius. Gemini is the most inexperienced air sign. They are as young and playful as the Aries is and the Gemini likes to pretend to be complicated but in reality they aren’t complicated at all like some of the later signs are. Play will be an essential part in this relationship. These people will be like two little kids fooling around, finding delight in things others often would find silly. The rather simplistic morals of the Gemini go well with the simple honorcode of the Aries. The only problem of significance is that the Gemini’s doubtful behavior will sometimes drive the Aries nuts. An Aries doesn’t like doubt. He decides instantly, no bullshit, no fuss. But if they can overcome that glitch this is a good and stable combination.

120 degree relationships

These are relationships within the same element. These relationships tend to be very intense and intimate. They are in fact stronger than the 60 degree relations but harder to maintain because of their intensity.  Once a proper balance is found they will likely, however, last forever, at least in the heart atmosphere. For an Aries these are:

* Saggitarius (23 november – 23 December)

Now here the Aries has found someone that can completely overrule him. While the younger Saggitarius is often still a bit shy and calculative and might be served well by the directness and the straightness of an Aries, the older Saggitarius will completely blow him out of the water. The thing is, once Saggitarius become proper hunters they can’t be beaten at their own game. Two things that could make this relation work is either the youthfulness of both participants (this is a relation that has far better chances to work with youth) or the fact that the Aries simply is too naieve to detect the hidden games the Saggitarius is playing, which they always do, for a Saggitarius that doesn’t play power games is a dead Saggitarius. This relationship will never be a really good one: the Aries simply isn’t challenging enough for the Saggitarius. The relation will likely end in a very short but intensive power struggle.

* Leo (23 July – 23 August)

Better combo than the Saggitarius. Leo and Aries are both not very complicated signs and they can provide each other in their true needs. Leo wants attention, flattery, a fight for justice. Aries wants honor, directness, action. These things harmonize well with each other and the Lion understands and appreciates the Aries need of honor and directness. A Lion is also direct, and hardly ever plays any hidden power games. These two understand each other very well. There is potential for conflict, since both are fire signs, but these conflicts will be rather simple and short lasting. This carries the seed for a great relationship.

Opposite relationship

One hears often that ‘opposites attract’ and sometimes the opposite relation can be very good, since these signs can be sort of complimentary. In case of Aries the opposite sign is:

* Libra

In this case I do not believe this combination will ever really work. The flip-flopping, unstable and doubtfull Libra will drive the Aries absolutely nuts, while the simplicity of Aries will evoke contempt in the aesthetic Libra that appreciates the finer things in life. Libra is a diplomatic sign and the Aries sense of diplomacy is ‘do it, do it now!’. This will rarely grow into a stable realtionship and will likely not be a very fullfilling one, even though the Aries will be fascinated by a type of beayty he can’t grasp and the Libra will try escape his own mental complexes though.

The Aries in sex

Sexually the Aries has great energy and directness but he sort of lacks the imagination to really variate much with his fiery talents. Aries are perfect bedpartners when you love ‘Batter me senseless’ sort of sex. They are often very noisy in bed too. It seems natural to them to ‘let out their noises’ and they don’t feel inhabited at all about it. They might enjoy some S&M games, but probably those won’t be very complex games just the avarage pain & dominion games. Too much flirting makes the Aries nervous. Extensive foreplay also is not his kind of thing.
