The Sign Sagittarius is the 9th sign from the wheel of the Zodiac and it represents the dying fire of nature. It is essentially a sign of decay, but this decay is often seen as an expansion of the influence of the tree; for example a tree might lose all his leaves in November and thus exapnd his influence, but its still a process of decay. The Sagittarius is the last fire sign, which means that it’s the fire that operates most closely to the earth. Sagittarius is a hunter. When you see them they will often look like shiny, happy and light people but this is often not as much a misimpression – because that’s what they are – but only the visible side of the coin. Sagittarius is a double sign, like Gemini, but where in Gemini this doubleness is visible with a Sagittarius it isn’t. A Sagittarius will never show you his dark side. He will most likely even pretend it doesn’t exist, but it’s always there, in the background, looming.

Sagittarius are phenomenal hunters and they are always flirting and playing power games, preferably with as many people they can handle. The ultimate dream of a pure Sagittarius is to have 6 different lovers who all have no clue about each others existence. The sign Sagittarius needs a lot of freedom and doesn’t feel at home in conventional relationships, but neither is it interested in anyone elses freedom: when  it talks of freedom it’s strictly the own freedom they are alluding to. They have little problem enslaving anyone, their freedom is a freedom for themselves. This is because Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the God of War and expansion. Their real interest is simple: its not freedom but maximizing ones own power.

A Sagittarius is always dreaming. And because they are a fire sign and the last fire sign to boot, the dying fire as it may, their dreams are usually very kitschy and cliche. For this reason they often feel very attracted to the sign Pisces or Fish – also dreamers – even though they in fact have little in common. But as Fiish are equally promiscious and flirty they will surely be attracted to each other. That’s one thing a Sagittarius can’t stop doing: flirting.  They are always flirting and playing power games. When we look at the Tarotcard assigned to Sagittarius, Art, we see this is again a formula that deals with Duality with one difference: in Sagittarius the highest form is a Janushead, in other words Duality doesn’t get solved here as that is not the purpose of this card.

The career of a Sagittarius

The fickleness of a Sagittarius can make it hard to work in regular 9-5 jobs and such jobs will make the Sagittarius unhappy. They will do best in unusual jobs or jobs that offer lots of freedom. Travel agent, tourguide, musician, artist, any job that offers a sufficient level of freedom really. If the Sagittarius really likes his job he will be a loyal and hard worker. Never doubt their sincerity though, even if you have good reason to: they are allergic to any form of doubt about their sincerity.

The Sagittarius in love

The Sagittarius is a hunter. He wants trophies for in his trophy room. The physical appearance of his prey is therefore quite important. They usually like flashy, macho, somewhat kitschy looking types and their main interest is to be able to flaunt them, which is why they might feel very attracted to fame and money too. They are always full of glamorous dreams, and they seek someone who either is somewhat glamorous himself or who is able to project likewise silly fantasies into their heads. In a lot of respects the Sagittarius is like a little child that refuses to grow up, an often terrorizing little child. Love to him means having a basis from which to hunt from. Any other forms of love he finds rather repugnant or intolerable.

60 degree relations:

60 degree relations are the most common for relationships. These are the ‘good friends’ sort of relationships, that is often the best and most logical basis for long term commitment. For a Sagittarius these are:

* Libra (23 September – 23 October)

A promising combination, but the essential problem here is that both these signs are rather unstable and that Jupiter and Venus aren’t too well fit for each other. The Sagittarius will completely dominate the Libra, and both are quite promiscuous and flirty, which will result in a rather unstable relationship unless we are dealing with a Sagittarius who is not jealous, which will be a freak of nature, if one exists. The two do however have some basic things in common, like an interest in socializing and an interest in philosophy and art, even though the Libra is mostly into the aesthetic sides of those. As such these two could be good friends and also good lovers if the elements balance themselves out well.

* Aquarius (23 January – 23 February )

The Sagittarius feels very attracted to the Aquarius and his mature, easy and mysterious ways. The aloofness of the Aquarius sign also awakes the interest of the hunter who usually thinks she can make him overcome that defect. The Aquarius, who is very good in mental manipulation, will play the endless power games the Sagittarius likes so much and beat her at almost every turn. The relation might have a certain dynamic for this reason: but in the end there is some more problematic aspects about this relationship: the Aquarius can’t really give the devotion the Sagittarius longs for and the Aquarius is way too cold for the passionate Sagittarius. And then there’s the jealousy that will always rear its head. These two might be better off as friends, but it could be worth a try.

120 degree relationships

These are relationships within the same element. These relationships tend to be very intense and intimate. They are in fact stronger than the 60 degree relations but harder to maintain because of their intensity.  Once a proper balance is found they will likely, however, last forever, at least in the heart atmosphere. For a Sagittarius these are:

* Leo (23 July – 23 August)

Oh, now here we have some serious temptation. The solar Lion and the dominant, Jupiterian Sagittarius. Their flirts will be phenomenal, but on an essential level, beyond the powerful sexuality they evoke in each other, they will also be essentially incompatible and they usually know that. There is a chance for this relation to really work, but it requires concessions and both signs are usually not too keen on making those. The Sagittarius will play power games with the Lion and is perhaps the only sign in the Zodiac better at those games than the Lion is. At some point the Lion will grow very tired of these games, since they essentially lack integrity, and the relationship might turn ugly and sado-masochistic after that point is reached. It is a harder constellation for a long lasting relation but a very good one for a hell of a flirt.

* Aries (23 March – 23 April)

Now here the Aries has found someone that can completely overrule him. While the younger Sagittarius is often still a bit shy and calculative and might be served well by the directness and the straightness of an Aries, the older Sagittarius will completely blow him out of the water. The thing is, once Sagittarius become proper hunters they can’t be beaten at their own game. Two things that could make this relation work is either the youthfulness of both participants (this is a relation that has far better chances to work with youth) or the fact that the Aries simply is too naive to detect the hidden games the Sagittarius is playing, which they always do, for a Sagittarius that doesn’t play power games is a dead Sagittarius. This relationship will never be a really good one: the Aries simply isn’t challenging enough for the Sagittarius. The relation will likely end in a very short but intensive power struggle.

Opposite relationship

One hears often that ‘opposites attract’ and sometimes the opposite relation can be very good, since these signs can be sort of complimentary. In case of Sagittarius the opposite sign is:

* Gemini (23 May – 23 June)

Oh, the two most playful signs in the Zodiac combined! What a sight that must be at start, but the problems will soon manifest since these signs are essentially incombinable. The late fire of Sagittarius will be extremely bored with the psycho-babble of the Gemini: the Sagittarius does not want to be explained at all, he is the mysterious hunter that will never reveal his true identity. Therefore this relation will almost always result in power games and the Gemini has no chance of winning those. These two share a certain shizophrenic formula: but where in the Gemini this formula is open and visible, in Sagittarius its hidden and invisible. One of the best areas in this relationship is sex: they share the same sort of playful need of experimentation, just the Sagitarius will often wish the Gemini will shut up in bed. The Gemini has no essential grip on the Sagittarius and the Sagittarius really needs dreams to chase: which is something the Gemini is not very good at providing: Gemini’s analyse, they don’t dream much. I don’t think this relation has much chance in the long run, but the start of it might be very intense and promising.

The Sexual Sagittarius:

A Sagittarius is very dominant and overrules everything with his fire. For this reason they might seek somewhat receptive partners. They often have serious problems ‘letting go’ and will want to control everything. They are passionate lovers and their best forte is kissing. If you want to turn them on, tell them some crazy dreams. That’s the sort of thing they like, dreaming and flying with someone.
