Who remembers the time where books weren’t like mass produced shoes, but rather like living, magical beings with a life of their own? It was another world, a world where knowledge itself still possessed animist powers. What now is left of all that? Publishers flood the market with one cheap publication after the other, they still claim a monopoly on quality control, but everyone with eyes in their head knows there hardly is any. There is no time for decent guidance of authors. There is no criticism, because cheap = good and we live in the age of neopositivism, the worst ideology ever invented. We believe that publishers should not resemble Wallmart. The only weapon in cynical times is to move in the opposite direction, but with the technological advances of the enemy.
Loewak is a counter movement. We do want to pay a lot of attention to our books. We do want to have an intense personal relation with our readers. We do want to give critical guidance to our authors. That’s why, however, we need a strong gate policy: because for us quality is number one, and we only have so much time to invest. Whomever buys a book of Loewak should feel the garantuee that he or she will buy a book with good, strong, significant content. At Loewak no machine produced literature, no formula work, no coffins full of pagewhite and silence – a book of Loewak Publishing House is a living product, meant to reinfuse your imagination.
