Vandaag mailde Erik Lindner me dat volgende week een bespreking in de Groene Amsterdammer komt. Daarop vooruitlopend schrijft hij:
Ik heb je bundel vervloekt, op de grond gegooid, weer opgepakt, gezworen dat ik het nooit zou bespreken, erom gelachen, geprezen, delen echt goed bevonden, bedacht dat ik 2.000 woorden nodig had het onder woorden te brengen dus moest wachten tot december, en uiteindelijk gisteren toch na weken lezen een stukje gemaakt voor De Groene.
Nou, dat maakt nieuwsgierig!
Ook Marc Tiefenthal schrijft wat over Karavanserai op zijn weblog:
Er is in het Nederlands taalgebied een dichter opgestaan. Met zijn eerste bundel heeft hij lang gewacht en het bleek het wachten waard. Karavanserai heet de bundel en is uitgegeven in 2008 bij Uitgeverij Nieuw Amsterdam.

Another short Karavanserai review
Saskia van den Heuvel bought my book because reviews made her curious. She writes on her weblog:
“Martijn Benders is a wholly different story. After seeing some too short or too vague reviews on the internet from which it became clear it was almost impossible to place this book within the Dutch poetry writing tradition (if there is anything like that) I was very curious about this debut.
I read it, yes, sure. But I have to withhold my ideas and experience about this book for a while. This is a book to read again and after probably read twice more to finally understand how these poems do their work, what they are appealing to and where they dare hitting you. Of course I don’t have to define poetry but to read something and to have no idea what these poems did to you in retrospect is quite a new experience. It doesn’t happen to me often but I have no idea what to think about this work.
I do know what to think about the cover though. Finally we see some creative design again. Here NwAdam scores for certain, something we can’t say of Cossee.
